The heart of this project is a student-friendly, custom-designed software platform that gives every student a dynamic, individualized dashboard.

With it, students can:

  • Discover their strengths and interests through quick, fun assessments that give immediate, personal feedback.
  • Explore careers using a library of engaging, age-appropriate videos and resources sourced from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Sign up for events and opportunities with local businesses, from job shadows and youth apprenticeships to part-time jobs and internships.
  • Communicate with and keep a record of their goals and planning conversations with counselors and academic and career planning staff.

Research-Based Design

Opening Doors utilizes proven methodologies to support student success

For Students

Identify your interests, strengths, skills, and aspirations through engaging assessments. Get matched to real occupations that align with who you are and what you want to become.

For Businesses

Build a network of local businesses and community organizations to create meaningful opportunities that benefit both students and employers in your community.

Measure Readiness

Track and measure readiness for college, work, and life with research-based surveys that provide actionable insights for students and educators.

Support Educators

Lighten the workload for school staff by helping direct interventions where they're needed most—at both the individual and subgroup levels.

Opening Doors does more than engage students. It integrates best practices identified across decades of education, workforce, and economic development research. It helps students answer three critical questions:

  • What might I want to do?
  • What support do I need to get there?
  • How do I connect to opportunities in my own community?
